Final v Eastern Districts

Bugger.

But first a big thanks to Coach: Andrew (Red) Cowell and the (frighteningly) organised manager Leon and able assistant Di Celliers who all collectively did a great job with the team during the tournament.  And to all those parents who chipped in and helped out – many thanks.  The boys looked a happy and united team all week so what more could we want.

The Final.  It didn’t start well, we lost the toss and so fielded.  We then had the misfortune of one of their very talented boys, who had had a relatively poor week until the Final, batting very well for a deserved hundred (despite being run-out on 75 :-) and that setting Eastern up for a good score.

Our strong and well performing batting line-up just couldn’t get going, losing wickets regularly.  One of our boys was batting very well and looking good for a big score and got a short ball that then keep low, hit him on the shin.  Out.  Other boys who had been scoring just got out.

It was just not our day.  If we played again tomorrow, we could just as easily win.

Many congratulations though to Eastern Districts who had also narrowly beaten us earlier in the week were deserved winners of the tournament.

Eastern Districts 208/9 in 50 overs.   Michael Ross 10, 3-44, Grant Celliers 7, 2-28.

North Harbour 152 all out in 43 overs.  Benjamin Beecroft 34 (46) Angus Mckenzie 36 (40)

A number of the team have been invited to trial for Auckland U17.  These boys are:

Mitchell Bremner
Keegan Russell
Adam Baard
Angus Mckenzie
Benjamin Beecroft

Best of luck and enjoy the experience.

Result v Western, Result v Central Green

v Western Districts (Dec 19)

North Harbour 270/4 in 50 overs.  Benjamin Beecroft 110 (104), Adam Baard 69n.o (64), Angus Mckenzie 40 (79).

Western Districts 215 all out in 49.2.  Keegan Russell, 9ov, 2-18.

A top innings Benjamin which was well supported by other batsmen.  A great over-all effort from the team to restrict and beat Western and keep ourselves in with the chance of making the final.

v Central Districts Green (Dec 21)

Central Districts Green 143 all out in 44 overs.  Sam Bowden 9.3, 5-28, Angus Mckenzie 9, 4-36.

North Harbour 144/5 in 27.3 overs Mitchell Bremner 34, Adam Baard 33, Michael Ross 32no.

An excellent bowling effort with Sam taking five wickets, and Gus with four.  A powerful batting display ensured we got the runs quickly.

Great effort team, you finish top of the table and you are into the final tomorrow v Eastern Districts.

Result v Eastern Districts

North Harbour 123 all out in 40.2 overs.  Mitchell Bremner 51

Eastern Districts 124/9 in 46 overs.  Angus Mckenzie, 10, 3-27, Adrian Young 10, 2-29, Keegan Russell 10, 2-30, Grant Celliers 10, 1-15.

A close game that could have gone either way.  We needed more runs and did a great job so very nearly defending a small total.  31 wides didn't help the cause.

Keep on enjoying the cricket and push on from here, there is still plenty to play for including the opportunity to win the tournament.

A crushing win.
