It was a hard grind on a pitch doing plenty and a very slow outfield.  Great to see Ryan and Jono build a platform and Cooper's clean hitting result in a competitive score.

Highlight for NH Black Development - batting out the 50 overs after being 28 for 5 at one stage.

Learning's from today:

Bowling

Bowlers to find their own rhythm with good line and length before starting to test the batsman with their variations.

Learn to use the conditions - in windy conditions, keep the ball up to the batsman and let the ball do the rest.

Fielding

Charge at the ball but don't rush

More urgency and accuracy needed - watch the ball into your hands.

Batting

When facing accurate swing bowlers - ensure that the front foot is well forward to negate the swing and bounce.

North Harbour U16 District Tournament Selection 2013

The current selection process has been the most difficult one I've been involved in.  The net was cast very wide early on with approximately 80 boys identified as being available from across three school years. We've had the Winter Academies, the Spring Academies, and the warm-up games.  There has been a considerable amount of trialling occurring and opportunity given to those boys pushing for selection in either "A" or development sides.  

All selections have been made solely on merit.  Final team selection was the responsibility of team Coaches and team balance was a major issue.  We think we've got it right, if we haven't, every reasonable effort has been made to.

The teams are listed below.  

For those of you who have not been selected, there were three injuries near the beginning of the tournament(s) last year that resulting in boys pulling out, there is every chance you could still be involved.

I also note the teams below are not necessarily in batting order, that will be determined by the Coaches on a game by game basis.
