Results Burgundy v Manukau Nov 17th

Two games for Burgundy out at Manukau today.

Game 1:  North Harbour Burgundy A v Manukau A

Manukau - 298 all out in the 50th over
Sam Bowden, 9ov 3-40
Grant Celliers, 10ov 2-41

North Harbour Burgundy - 199/8
Asher Robb 31n.o
Campbell Knowles 30

A win to Manukau by 99 runs.

Thank you Daryl Quinn for taking the team today, the umpires Leon Celliers/Kevin Knowles, and scorers Bev Russell/Di Celliers.

Game 2:  North Harbour Burgundy development v Manukau development

North Harbour Burgundy development - 173 all out in the 50th over
Jonothan Kemp 50

Manukau development - 175/8 in the 49th over
Rory Bessell, 10ov 3-32
Frankie Sturney, 9ov 0-15

A win to Manukau by 2 wickets

Thanks to Craig Bessell for his 100 (overs of umpiring) and to Roland van der Sande and Greg Kemp for the scoring.

A quick thank you too to the four or five boys who came into the development team at late (and very late) notice in the last day or two.

A quick summary - hard going today for the A's but we stuck at it, it will be considerably closer next time.  And development - a close game that could have gone either way and you fought hard to the end.

There were two or three umpiring decisions that didn't go our way today in both games and it was great to see our boys, while disappointed, maintain their composure.  Well done boys.

Auckland selection approach

Auckland Cricket have advised:

"There is no national U16 tournament, only a National U17 and U19 tournament.

After the U16 District tournament the selectors will have in mind a group of players that they would like to watch more closely between Jan – March.

At the end of March a squad will be chosen to represent Auckland for the U17 tournament in Jan 2015.

There is still room for players to move in and out of this squad, but it expected to be minimal.

There is also a chance that a player from this U16 tournament will get selected for the January 2014 U17 tournament.

Hope that explains."

NH Burgundy v Manukau, Sunday 17th November

North Harbour Burgundy is due to play Manukau on November 17th.  Location:  St Kentigern College.  Grass for "A" and artificial for development.  Start time: 10am, be there at 9.15am.  Wear your North Harbour warm-up gear if you have it and North Harbour whites, otherwise normal whites.

Additional comment 12/11:

There will be dressing rooms available for the A sides in the bottom level of the sports centre, which is next to the grass wicket where the A side will be playing.  The toilet facilities are in the dressing rooms and are available for all sides.  Cars will need to park in the main car park, but this is relatively close to the playing fields.
